SIA 2022 ECO-DESIGN CERTIFIED
This fireplace is compliant with the Eco-Design 2022 requirements for burning both wood and smokeless fuel. The Eco-Design scheme aims to reduce harmful emissions and it is mandatory in Europe for all stoves. Eco-Design stoves can offer a 90% reduction in particulates released when compared to an open fire, and an 80-94% reduction when compared to an old fireplace. In South Africa it is not a requirement to have an Eco-Design Ready appliance; however, those who are concerned by the impact of their consumer choices on the environment are choosing Eco-Design 2022 Ready appliances. A fireplace for now, and for the sustainable, greener future!
CLEARSKIES ACCREDITATION
This is an independent emissions and energy performance accreditation mark for solid fuel stoves in the U.K. It builds on Eco-Design 2022 to help lower emissions and improve air quality. This fireplace meets and exceeds U.K. Eco-Design regulation standards. There are 5 accreditation levels, with 5 being the best improvement on Eco-Design.
ClearSkies 2 – Eco-design compliant.
ClearSkies 3 – Eco-Design compliant and DEFRA Exempt.
ClearSkies 4 – 15% Improvement on Eco-Design and DEFRA Exempt.
ClearSkies 5 – At least a 30% improvement on the minimum Eco-Design 2022 criteria. The highest accreditation level, and DEFRA Exempt.
DEFRA APPROVED STOVE
A Defra approved stove is an industry term for a SE (smoke exempt) fireplace which has been approved to burn specific fuels in a smoke-controlled area that would usually not be allowed (i.e., wood).
The Panoramic 9 boasts a minimalist design with a designer, cool to tough wooden handle. The larger window gives you a maximised view of the fire. Its output range is between 5-10kW range, with a nominal output of 7kW. This means that this model is suitable for medium to large spaces.
It features a 30mm thick cast iron door; a 10mm thick steel top; a 5mm thick steel body and a removable baffle plate design. The vermiculite lining the combustion chamber is 30mm thick and the chamber comfortably loads 45cm logs. The Panoramic 9 is a wood burning only stove that doesn’t require a grate or an ash pan, as wood loves to burn on a flat base. Adjustable bolts on the base aid with levelling on uneven surfaces. There is an option to connect to an external air intake. Included is an instruction manual, and a glove for adjusting the air control and for opening the door. The large window’s dimensions are 47cm x 37cm.
The Panoramic 9 has an excellent overnight burn system. Its airtight door gaskets and manual air controls allow you to close the stove right down overnight and wake up to warmth in the morning. All you will need to do is reopen the air controls, add a little wood, and watch the fire roar again. The overnight burn system can take time to master and relies heavily on the fuel being burnt. Please note that you can only achieve this if you are able to remove the DEFRA stop!
This model is perfect if you require a physically large fireplace with less depth. This has been achieved by clever design as the external body is very wide, but the depth is shallow. There is also a twin layer construction, and the inner layer has been tapered in at the sides to make the fire box slightly smaller. The combustion chamber’s dimensions are 50cm (W) (36.7cm at the tapered rear) x 35.6cm (H) x 20cm (D). The air supply is solely drawn in from the rear and is fed between two layers of steel. The air is then dispersed over the fire from a series of holes high inside the rear of the chamber. This re-introduced Tertiary air re-burns the initial smoke and pollutants created by the fire. The remaining air speeds up as it rises over the fire and is released like a curtain of heat that burns the glass clean (Air Wash technology). The Panoramic 9 has an advanced Secondary / Tertiary Clean Burn System. Underneath the stove’s ash lip is a discrete air control lever that gives an incredibly accurate degree of control over the fire with a simple push to the left or to the right. This means you are benefitting from every bit of heat from your fuel, and you also burn less wood as you don’t have to reload as often.
The bench stand is 27.8cm high and provides log storage as well as increased height. Adjustable bolts on the stand aid with levelling on uneven surfaces.
The Panoramic 9 is a high-end product with a SIA 2022 Eco-Design Certification, a clearSkies accreditation, & DEFRA Certification. It has been manufactured according to European design in China for the U.K. market. It is CE and British standard approved by KIWA Gastec in Cheltenham, UK and comes with a 5-year limited warranty.
