Moisture meter
R350
A closed combustion fireplace needs to be fueled with dry, well-seasoned wood. The ideal moisture content of the wood should be between 15 and 18%. If the moisture content is lower than 12%, the wood will burn too quickly, especially in a closed combustion fireplace. Fueling with dry wood that is of a 15 - 18% moisture content ensures that your fire burns well; that there is a good draw of smoke up your flue; that there is less creosote build-up in your fireplace and flue, and that your window doesn’t soot up. Wood that contains more than 25% moisture is considered "wet" or "green", and this is often what is sold as ‘dry’ wood during winter.
This professional instrument has a large, high resolution, digital LCD screen. It responds quickly, and it has a ‘hold’ function for the last measurement taken. It can be used to measure the moisture content in wood, bamboo and paper etc. It’s very easy to use. Turn it ‘on’ and remove the probe protecting cover from over the pins. Push the two hardened steel pins about 5mm deep into the wood you are testing and the moisture content reading will display on the LCD screen. The pins are protected by a safety cover when not in use.
The digital moisture meter includes a probe protecting cover, an English instruction manual and a storage bag with a handle. The 9V battery is not included and it can be purchased at your local grocery store.
