SIA 2022 ECO-DESIGN READY
This fireplace meets future stove regulations and exceeds the Eco-Design 2022 requirements for burning both wood and smokeless fuel. The Eco-Design scheme is an initiative to reduce harmful emissions and will become mandatory in Europe for all stoves by 2022. Recent studies have found Eco-Design Ready stoves can offer a 90% reduction in particulates released when compared to an open fire and 80-94% reduction when compared to an old fireplace. All test results have been carried out by Kiwa Gastec in the UK. In South Africa it is not a requirement to have an Eco-Design Ready appliance; however, those who are concerned by the impact of their consumer choices on the environment are choosing Eco-Design Ready appliances.
DEFRA APPROVED STOVE
A Defra approved stove is an industry term for a SE (smoke exempt) fireplace which has been approved to burn specific fuels in a smoke-controlled area that would usually not be allowed (i.e., wood). The Defra approval has been achieved by factory fitting a mechanical stop to prevent secondary air closure beyond a 31mm open position.
The Ecosy+ Hampton Vista 500 is one of the most up-to date fireplaces on the market. Its modern design boasts a large window in a stylishly shaped, 30mm thick, cast-iron door that is mirrored with a matching, thick, cast-iron fascia fixed to the integrated log stand. It comes with a newly designed, brushed chrome, push/pull handle, and a chrome dial.
The Vista 500 features a 10mm thick steel top; 5mm thick steel sides and a removable, steel baffle plate. The vermiculite lining the combustion chamber is 30mm thick and the chamber comfortably loads 25cm logs The Hampton Vista 500 is a wood-burning only fireplace and therefore doesn’t require a grate or an ash pan, as wood loves to burn on a flat base. On the side of the fireplace is a well-engineered dial which gives an incredibly accurate degree of control over the fire and the vent plate that is mechanically attached to the body. There is an option to connect to an external air intake. Included are an instruction manual and a glove for adjusting the dial and for opening the door.
The Vista 500 is a "hybrid" fireplace, and its body is constructed from quality Q235B carbon steel that has been chosen for its plasticity, weldability, and toughness. It’s effectively ‘a stove within a stove’, where the air drawn in from the rear is fed between two layers of steel. The air is then dispersed over the fire from a series of holes high inside the rear of the chamber. This re-introduced Tertiary air re-burns the initial smoke and pollutants created by the fire. The remaining air speeds up as it rises over the fire and is released like a curtain of heat that burns the glass clean (Air Wash technology).
The Hampton Vista 500 is a high-end product which has been rigorously tested. It exceeds the SIA 2022 Eco-Design requirements & it comes with a DEFRA certification. It is manufactured according to European design in China for the U.K. market. It is CE and British standard approved by KIWA Gastec and comes with a 5-year limited warranty.
