Hydronic Fireplaces
A hydronic central heating system is an economic and environmental asset to your home that brings you one step closer to self-sufficient living. With a regular fireplace you can heat a single room, but with a hydronic fireplace you can heat your entire house. Using a special fireplace, called a boiler fireplace or hydronic fireplace, you can convert some of the heat it generates into hot water to heat your house. Hydronic fireplaces are an economical and ecological heat source that can help you save significantly on gas or electricity, and so on total heating costs.
In a hydronic fireplace, the boiler heats water in a closed loop system and hot water is pumped from the fireplace through wall-mounted radiators or underfloor heating to warm your home. Excess energy is stored in a tank and can be used throughout your home for radiator heating, underfloor heating, domestic hot water, pool heating, etc. Additional heat sources, such as solar panel heaters, can be used in conjunction with the wood-fuelled boiler to offer a complete ‘off-the-grid’ solution.
